How to manage plugin, theme and WordPress updates

Update a plugin or theme now

  1. Open your Pressy and go to WordPress in the sidebar.
  2. Open Plugins or Themes.
  3. Rows needing one show Update available.
  4. Press Update.

Take a backup first if the plugin runs your shop, your forms or your bookings.

Switch on automatic updates for a plugin or theme

Each row has its own Auto-update switch. Turn it on for the ones you would always update anyway — small utilities, well-known plugins — and leave it off for anything that touches payments or layout.

We never turn these on for you and never update a plugin behind your back.

Choose how WordPress itself updates

On the Overview tab, under Automatic updates:

  • Security and minor updates only — the default, and right for almost every site. Security fixes arrive on their own; big versions wait for you.
  • All updates, including major versions — everything, including new major versions the day they land.

See what happened

The Activity log feed on the same tab lists every update we installed, when, and whether it worked.

Didn’t solve it?
