How to change your plan or resources

Every Pressy is its own subscription, so changing size changes that site and nothing else. Everywhere else in hosting, one site needing more memory means upgrading the plan that holds all of them.

The three dials

The four presets — PressyLite, PressyPlus, PressyMax and PressyUltra — are memory tiers with a sensible vCPU and storage to match. Every number under them is adjustable, which is what makes "I need more disk but not more memory" a €1 decision rather than a tier jump.

Storage stops at 80 GB deliberately. Past roughly that point a WordPress site is not storage-bound but media-library-bound, and the right answer is object storage or a CDN rather than a bigger disk.

Upgrades: paid, then applied

An upgrade charges the exact pro-rated amount for the days left in this billing period to your card on file, quoted on screen before you confirm. If your bank asks to verify the payment, you are sent to Stripe's own page to approve it, and the change waits until you have.

Once paid, the new resources apply within about a minute, with no downtime.

While a payment is outstanding, the screen says so plainly: your Pressy has not changed and nothing has been charged. The payment link has an expiry, and after it the change is dropped and you start again. Other changes are locked until you finish or cancel that one — one change at a time is what keeps the price you were quoted honest.

Downgrades: at the end of the period

You keep what you have until the period you have already paid for ends, then it changes to the new amounts.

Nothing is charged today and nothing is refunded. That is how every plan and term change works here, and the confirmation says so before you agree rather than after.

A scheduled change shows as a banner with the date, and can be cancelled up until it lands.

One thing that can block a downgrade

You cannot shrink storage below what your site is already using — there would be nowhere to put the difference. The screen shows what you are using today and refuses the plans that could not hold it, naming the two figures rather than greying out a tile without explanation.

Free some space first, then come back.

Changing the billing term

Four terms: monthly, 3 months, 6 months and a year. Only the year is discounted — it is billed as ten months rather than twelve, so two are free. The 3- and 6-month terms are list price and exist for people who want to pay less often without committing to a year.

The same rules apply as to any other change: paying more now is pro-rated and paid on Stripe, paying less takes effect at the end of the period.

While a cancellation is scheduled

Plan, term and resources are all frozen. Keep the subscription first, then change it.
