How to edit a file
The Files screen in your dashboard browses your site's folder, uploads
and downloads files, and edits them in place. For a one-file change like
wp-config.php or .htaccess, it replaces an FTP client entirely.
Edit and save
- Open your Pressy and go to Files.
- Browse to the file. WordPress lives in
public_html. - Open the file and press Edit.
- Make your change and save. It is live immediately.
Before touching wp-config.php or .htaccess
One wrong character in either can take the whole site down, so take a backup first. If the site goes white after a save, put back what you changed — see fixing a white screen.
When FTP is still the better tool
Moving many files at once, or anything over a few megabytes, is quicker in a real client — see connecting with FileZilla.
