Fixing "your domain is not pointing here"

1. Check the records are where they belong

The two records go wherever DNS for the domain is answered, which is not always where you bought it. If you have ever put a domain behind Cloudflare or moved its nameservers, the records go at the new place and the old panel is ignored entirely.

Your Pressy's Domains screen names the provider it detects and links straight to it. Add the two records exactly as shown, with no leading or trailing spaces.

2. Give it time, then force a check

DNS changes take minutes to hours to spread, depending on the TTL the old records carried.

Press Check now on the Domains screen to check immediately rather than waiting for the next automatic one.

3. If your browser sees it but we do not

We report what public DNS says. Your own computer can disagree because of a cached lookup, a VPN, or a hosts file entry from testing.

Check from somewhere neutral — dnschecker.org, or dig yourdomain.com in a terminal. If that agrees with us, the records are genuinely not live yet.

4. The three specific messages

Not pointed — no record for the name, or it points somewhere else. Recheck step 1, especially the record type: the apex needs an ALIAS, ANAME, or CNAME flattening, which every provider names differently.

Pointed elsewhere — the name resolves, but not to us. Usually the old host's record left in place beside the new one. Delete the old A or CNAME for that name; two records for one name is not a valid setup.

Mixed — some of the addresses are ours and some are not. Same cause, same fix: remove the leftovers so only ours remain.

5. Once it resolves, the certificate follows

HTTPS is issued after the domain resolves here, not before. There is nothing to click. If it does not appear within a few minutes of the domain going live, see the certificate will not issue.

When to write to us

Write to us if dnschecker.org shows our records worldwide and the dashboard still says the domain is not pointing after an hour. Send the domain name and a screenshot of your DNS records.
